Jason Anderson
Trainer, Speaker, Consultant
Upon my discharge from the United States Army, I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and started a 25-year career in community corrections, serving as a probation/parole officer, a project manager, probation department director and trainer of several topics.
Training began for me as an “additional duty as assigned” while working for the Minnesota Department of Corrections, yet I learned immediately that teaching and coaching suited me well. Within my community corrections career, I served as a Regional Training Coordinator for the National Institute of Corrections for 5 years.
Consulting started out as a “side-hustle”, training various agencies and disciplines in Motivational Interviewing, StrengthsFinders and became affiliated with The Montana Institute doing curriculum development and training in 2014. Additionally, I spent a number of years as an active member of 2 school-based substance abuse coalitions and as a member of the Itasca County Veteran’s Crisis Response Team which supports veterans experiencing mental health crisis.
When our nest became empty in 2022 my Lovely Wife and I decided it was time for me to take the plunge into consulting full-time. Helping individuals and organizations move beyond checking the box, I strive to deliver training programs that actually translate into acquired skill. Both my training style and keynote delivery are characterized by high energy, making the material relatable, story-telling and humor.
If I’m not training, there are good odds you’ll find me enjoying any number of the outdoor activities Northern Minnesota has to offer. Additionally, I enjoy singing in my church choir and dabble in community theater.
